1. Who we are
PrivacyVeil is a Chrome browser extension developed by Tis Enough Studio. This privacy policy covers both the PrivacyVeil browser extension and the website at privacyveil.app.

2. Data we collect
2.1 Extension
The PrivacyVeil extension collects and processes zero personal data. Specifically:
| Data type | Collected? | Explanation |
|---|---|---|
| Text you paste into AI chats | No | Processed locally in your browser only. Never sent to any server. |
| Your protected words/filters | No | Stored in Chrome's local storage on your device only. |
| Browsing history | No | The extension only activates on specific AI chat sites listed in the manifest. |
| Analytics / telemetry | No | No analytics scripts, no usage tracking, no error reporting. |
| Cookies | No | The extension does not set or read any cookies. |
| Account information | No | No account creation required. Pro license keys are validated via Lemon Squeezy's API and stored locally. |
| IP address | No | The extension makes no network requests except for Pro license validation (see Section 3). |
2.2 Website (privacyveil.app)
The PrivacyVeil website is a static page that makes no third-party requests. Specifically:
- No analytics (no Google Analytics, no Plausible, no Fathom, no tracking pixels)
- No cookies of any kind
- No external fonts (no Google Fonts CDN)
- No social media embeds or tracking scripts
- No advertising networks
The "AI Privacy Checker" tool on the website processes text entirely in your browser using JavaScript. The text you paste is never sent to any server and is discarded when you navigate away or close the tab.
2.3 Hosting
The website may be hosted on a platform that processes server access logs (IP addresses, timestamps, requested URLs) as part of standard web hosting. This is necessary for the legitimate interest of maintaining website security and availability. These logs are managed by the hosting provider and are not accessed or used by PrivacyVeil for any purpose. See your hosting provider's privacy policy for details.
3. Pro license validation
When a user activates a Pro license key, the extension makes a single HTTPS request to Lemon Squeezy's API (api.lemonsqueezy.com) to validate the key. This request contains:
- The license key entered by the user
- An instance name ("PrivacyVeil Chrome Extension")
No other data (browsing data, protected words, text content, IP addresses) is included in this request. The license key and validation status are stored locally in Chrome's storage. Lemon Squeezy's own privacy policy applies to their processing of the license key: lemonsqueezy.com/privacy.
4. Data storage
All data stored by the extension is kept locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage APIs:
- chrome.storage.local — protected words, settings, plan status, license key (persistent)
- chrome.storage.session — temporary placeholder-to-original mappings for the current browser session (cleared when browser closes)
You can delete all stored data at any time by removing the extension from Chrome. No data survives uninstallation.
5. Data sharing
We do not share, sell, rent, or disclose any data to any third party. There is no data to share because we do not collect any.
6. Your rights under GDPR
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the following rights. Because PrivacyVeil collects no personal data, most of these are satisfied by default:
- Right of access — We hold no personal data about you.
- Right to rectification — There is no data to correct.
- Right to erasure — Remove the extension to delete all locally stored data.
- Right to data portability — Your protected words can be exported from the extension's Manage tab (Pro feature). All data is stored locally and accessible to you at all times.
- Right to object — We do not process any personal data, so there is no processing to object to.
- Right to restriction of processing — You can disable the extension at any time via the master toggle.
If you believe your rights have been violated, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
7. Children's privacy
PrivacyVeil does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children under the age of 16. Because the extension processes no personal data and requires no account creation, there is no age-related data collection concern.
8. International transfers
PrivacyVeil does not transfer any data internationally. All processing occurs locally on your device. The only external request (Pro license validation) is made to Lemon Squeezy's servers, which operate under their own data processing agreements.
9. Security
Because all data remains on your device, security is inherently tied to your browser and operating system security. The extension:
- Makes no network requests (except Pro license validation)
- Has no remote code execution capabilities
- Cannot be used to exfiltrate data
- Only runs on the specific AI sites declared in its manifest
- Uses Chrome's built-in content security policies (CSP) for all extension pages
10. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and, if the changes affect data collection practices (which currently do not exist), we will notify users through the extension's update mechanism.
