No. PrivacyVeil runs entirely in your browser. Your protected words, filter lists, and all text processing stay on your machine. We have no servers, no analytics, and no way to see what you type. It's architecturally impossible for us to access your data.

ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, Perplexity, and Poe. The extension only runs on these specific sites — it doesn't have access to any other websites. Pro users can add custom AI sites.

When you copy the AI's response, PrivacyVeil detects the placeholders (like [PERSON_1]) in your clipboard and replaces them with the original values before you paste. The swap happens in under 300 milliseconds — you'll never notice it.

Currently, you add names manually via the popup or the inline Protect pill. Structured data (emails, phones, IBANs, credit cards, SSNs, currency amounts) is detected automatically. AI-powered name detection is on our roadmap.

Most AI models preserve bracketed placeholders like [PERSON_1] without modification. Pro users get an optional "placeholder instructions" feature that adds a one-line prompt telling the AI to preserve the format, which improves restore accuracy further.
